1931

Ellsworth Vines wins the inaugural River Oaks International, the oldest US tennis event still played at its original site

1988

Houston native Zina Garrison wins Olympic doubles gold (with Pam Shriver) and singles bronze at the Seoul Games

2003

Westside Tennis Club hosts the Tennis Masters Cup, won by Roger Federer for his first year-end title (repeated in 2004)

2008

River Oaks Country Club takes over the US Men's Clay Court Championships from Westside Tennis Club
