Riverbank Park

Newark's pickleball scene leans on Essex County parks. Branch Brook Park has four lighted, dedicated courts at 235 Heller Parkway, free and first-come, first-served, sharing grounds with the 20-court Althea Gibson tennis complex. In December 2024, the county finished modernizing Weequahic Park's courts along Elizabeth Avenue and converted one tennis court into two pickleball courts. Dedicated indoor clubs sit just outside the city in Montclair and West Orange. Most weekend play still happens outdoors, weather permitting, on those Heller Parkway courts.
