Pickleball was born here. In the summer of 1965, Joel Pritchard, Bill Bell, and Barney McCallum cobbled the game together at Pritchard's Bainbridge Island cabin, a ferry ride from downtown Seattle. Six decades later, the Founders Courts at Battle Point Park anchor the original site, and indoor play has exploded across the metro: 26 courts at Side Out Tsunami in Rainier Beach, ten at The Picklr in Fremont's old Theo Chocolate warehouse. Green Lake East is the city's first dedicated pickleball hub.
